Framework being constructed for the new healthcare plan to extend health insurance to 30 million uninsured Americans in 2014

I just returned from North and South Carolina from San Diego and I love SC but is time to write again before I see a doctor for my rotator cuff tear…Congress provided the administration with ample flexibility to establish the particulars of the new health care law, dubbed “obamacare” by those who would oppose it. The new health care overhaul law requires that fundamental benefits consist of outpatient, hospital, emergency, maternal, newborn and children’s care, prescription drugs, mental health and substance abuse treatment, rehabilitation, labs, prevention and wellness provisions. I am not sure about plastic surgury. I tend to wonder how this will affect various South Carolina health insurance and for that matter how it will have an impact on long term care insurance for both North and South Carolina, overall.
The plan that the federal government settles on is widely expected to become the nation’s standard for health insurance plans in the future.
Until now, planning benefits has been the purview of insurers, employers and state officials. Insurance companies will be required, however, to provide at minimum the federally approved basic benefit package if they wish to use the new state markets to sell to small businesses, families and individuals in 2014.
A fact that has been obscured through disinformation is that the majority of existing employee plans will not be required to take up the federal model. I am not sure if this would cover say, san diego plastic surgury for example or for that matter cosmetic surgury in San Diego.
A report by independent experts from the Institute of Medicine has provided a skeleton plan for the Obama administration that spells out guidelines for determining what the basic package should consist of, as well as the means to keep it affordable for small businesses and taxpayers.
We had about 307,006,550 million Americans in 2009, with 68 million of them insured. An estimated 39.4 million people received Medicare benefits in 2009. Whether you have a rotator cuff tear or need prolotherapy this will be relevent. I should know about having a rotator cuff tear.
Elizabeth McGlynn, director of Kaiser Permanente’s center for effectiveness and safety research, who is a panel member for the new health care plan, has been quoted in the media as saying, “In this day and age, when we are (discussing) fiscal responsibility……..”
Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius issued a statement saying that officials would hold “listening sessions” around the country prior to any final decisions are made. The IOM panel has recommended a widespread effort to include the public in developing the guidelines.
Sebelius was quoted as saying, “Before we put forward a proposal……”
The law extends healthcare insurance coverage to roughly 30 million uninsured citizens
